ALCON 2026: THE GRAND GATHERING

The week‑long celebration opened with renewed energy, purpose, and overwhelming attendance. Alumni from across Nigeria and abroad gathered to relive cherished memories while building new bridges across generations. The programme featured:

  • Walk for Fitness – A symbolic march of unity promoting health and bonding.
  • Career Talk – Knowledge sharing by professionals shaping industries.
  • My Old School Days – A nostalgic experience connecting alumni to their roots.
  • Free Medical Checks – A gesture of care ensuring members’ wellbeing.

EMPOWERMENT: LIFTING MEMBERS, BUILDING FUTURES

A new milestone was introduced in the 2026 edition: an Empowerment Programme designed by Engr. (Dr.) IDOWU Hamed Ademayowa (the President) and the Central Executive Council (CEC) members to reward dedication and support members’ economic growth. During the AGM, an open and transparent ballot produced three winners who received life‑enhancing business tools:

  • AbdulAzeez Shoneye (Set 2011)Star Prize: Brand‑new Motorcycle
  • Noah Hakeem (Set 2006) – Deep Freezer
  • Ondun Aina (Set 2006) – Popcorn Machine

This initiative demonstrates the Alumni Association’s deep commitment to supporting livelihoods, promoting entrepreneurship, and recognizing loyalty. It marks the beginning of a long‑term empowerment agenda shaped to uplift the SGS community.

HEALTH SCREENING: WELLNESS AT THE HEART OF COMMUNITY

The free medical screening segment was one of the most impactful activities of the ALCON week. Health professionals — many of them SGS alumni — volunteered to conduct essential medical tests, including blood pressure checks, glucose monitoring, and general assessments.

This initiative served as a reminder that the strength of any community lies in the wellbeing of its members. The screening provided:

  • Early detection of health risks
  • Free medical advice
  • Referrals where necessary
  • A stronger culture of preventive healthcare

By prioritising the wellness of alumni, ALCON 2026 reaffirmed care, compassion, and community responsibility as core SGS values.

BEAUTY PAGEANT: CELEBRATING GRACE, CONFIDENCE & CULTURE

Adding colour, glamour, and excitement to the conference, the SGS Alumni Beauty Pageant became one of the standout moments of ALCON 2026. With several contestants showcasing elegance, intelligence, and cultural expression, the event epitomized unity through diversity.

After a beautifully contested competition, Mrs. Veronica Onaji emerged as Miss SGS Alumni 2025.
Her charisma, stage presence, and embodiment of SGS values made her the deserving queen of the evening.

The beauty pageant highlighted the creative and cultural evolution of the alumni body, proving once again that SGS is not only a place of academic heritage but also a hub of talent and expression.
