Shams-El-Deen Grammar school was established on the 8th July, 1983 by Itunmaja Community and Shams-El-Deen Muslim Society. The school was named Shams-El-Deen Grammar School to take after the missionary that sponsored its creation. The school first presented candidates for WAEC in 1987 and students sat for both West African Senior School Certificate Examination and National Examination Council. The school is well known with outstanding performance in education and sports and her students are known for their high moral standards.

 

The school has over 3000 students population as at 2022. The School has produced 35 sets of graduates since inception and these ex-students are the members of the college Old Students’ Association. The Old students’ Association, after several years of trial and errors eventually got its current shape with election of National Executive committee (NEC) saddled with the reponsibility of running the day-to-day activities of the Association and inauguration of Central Working Committee (CWC) which is constituted from the chairmen, secretaries and treasurers of the various sets/branches of the Association together with the NEC members.
